Continue project-based outreach

DOT will continue to consult with local communities on all of its projects. For major initiatives, such as Select Bus Service routes and Great Streets projects, DOT will continue to use tools like interactive workshops and open houses to provide a forum for community input.

DOT continues to consult with local communities on its street improvement projects through a variety of methods, including meetings with civic organizations, community boards, and elected officials, online project feedback portals, and through the Street Ambassador program. 

DOT will continue to host interactive workshops and open houses for major initiatives.

As of December 2017, DOT has hosted 24 interactive workshops and 10 open houses for major initiatives, such as Select Bus Service and Street Improvement Projects.

DOT will request on-site translators for DOT project workshops and other outreach events via the Language Access unit.

DOT continues to use on-site translators for project workshops and outreach events. DOT has had ASL, Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, Russian, Uzbek, Farsi, and Spanish interpreters. The agency uses language advertising accommodations for ADA and language access on all advertising materials for these meetings.
