Engage with the public in new venues

DOT will seek to engage the public outside of the project-specific review process to raise awareness of what we do and build relationships. These venues may include community events and non-transportation focused forums.

DOT will engage the public outside of the project-specific review process.

Completed

Recognizing that many people don’t have the time or the schedule to allow for attendance at Community Board meetings or public workshops, DOT engages the public outside of the project-specific review process. The agency now presents project elements to tenants associations, civic groups, and religious organizations, conducts on-street outreach through the Street Ambassador program and to local businesses through merchant surveys, and sets up informational booths at libraries and community centers. The public can also comment on upcoming projects using our project feedback portal: http://nycdotfeedbackportals.nyc/ This is all in addition to hosting traditional-format workshops open to all members of the public.
