Complete a citywide transit study

Working with our partners at the MTA, DOT will conduct a study of unmet transit needs in communities across the five boroughs and develop a set of recommendations to meet these needs. Possible recommendations include SBS, rail system, and streetcar expansion.

Update Description

DOT will initiate the citywide transit study.

Completed

The Citywide Transit Plan has been underway since fall 2016. DOT held six public workshops in all five boroughs and hosted an online travel patterns survey completed by thousands of New Yorkers. DOT is evaluating transit, demographic and traffic data, along with the results of public outreach, to develop a profile of existing transit needs. Further outreach followed by a final report are expected in early 2018.
